PoserSpeak utilizes the Python Scripting language to read a selected character's attributes inside Poser. Launching PoserSpeak opens a dialog where a user can enter text for the speech engine. The entered text is converted into Speech and saved as a wav file in your Poser scene. Additionally, the selected character's morphs are animated to match the spoken text. PoserSpeak is traditionally used to animate heads, however, any part of any character can be animated with PoserSpeak. ..................... ____ System Requirements _____________________________________________________ To use PoserSpeak you must have the following: Legal copy of Poser 4 ProPack, Poser 5, or Poser 6 Windows Operating System: Win NT, Win2000, XP or greater 16 megs of available RAM 10 megs of free disk space .............. ____ Installation ____________________________________________________________ Installing PoserSpeak involves downloading the PoserSpeak Installer and running it on your system. Download the installer and unzip its contents to you desktop. A folder will be created on your desktop called "PoserSpeak". Inside the folder is the installer "setup.exe". Double-click setup.exe and follow the instructions to install PoserSpeak on your computer. PoserSpeak should be installed as any other program, I recommend you install it at the default location C:\Program Files\3dtrue. Note, after installation, you are done with the installer program setup.exe and the setup.cab files. The first time you run PoserSpeak you need to setup your preferences. After installation is complete, click continue to launch PoserSpeak. Upon launching, the program will display the Installation screen. PoserSpeak must be added to each copy of Poser you want to speak. This is a simple process which the installer walks you through. PoserSpeak will work with up to three versions of Poser installed on your computer. Under the installation tab, click the Browse button and add up to three copies of Poser by browsing your computer for your Poser runtime folder. Once you have added all the Poser installs you want, click the save button. You can change these settings at anytime. Once you have told PoserSpeak where and how many Poser installations you have, one final step is needed. Inside PoserSpeak, next to the installation tab, click the Python Button tab. This screen allows you to add PoserSpeak to your Python menu. Do this by choosing a copy of Poser from the drop-down list, and select a number slot from one through ten. This number will be the location on your Python Scripts menu where PoserSpeak will appear. After you have chosen a slot for your new PoserSpeak button you are finished installing PoserSpeak. If you are currently running Poser you do not need to restart, but you do need to go under the Poser's File menu and choose File >> Reinitialize Python. This will update the button menu inside Poser. Close the poserspeak.exe program to finish installation. ........................ ____ Registering PoserSpeak __________________________________________________ When you purchase PoserSpeak, a temporary license is included which allows the program to work for 30 days. You will receive your registered license via email within 48 hours of your purchase. After installing PoserSpeak, you will need to activate your license. To activate, launch PoserSpeak by double-clicking C:\Program Files\3dtrue\PoserSpeak\poserspeak.exe, click on the "About" tab. If you have your registered license, enter your username and numerical passcode to activate your license. If you have not yet received your license, press the "Temp License" button to activate the 30 day license. Press the Register button to submit your registration. If your registration info is valid, PoserSpeak will be activated instantly. There is no need to restart PoserSpeak or your computer. Do not give out your license, it may invalidate your copy of PoserSpeak and/or prevent future upgrades. Newer versions of PoserSpeak come with the teporary license already activated. If you see a temporary license already installed, do nothing until you receive your license key. .................... ____ Running PoserSpeak ______________________________________________________ PoserSpeak is a plug-in so it should always be launched from inside your Poser program. Open the PoserSpeak interface by viewing your Python Scripts window inside Poser Window >> Python Scripts. Click the button labeled PoserSpeak to open the poserspeak python menu. Click the PoserSpeak RUN button to launch PoserSpeak. When launched, PoserSpeak will read the scene file for your character's morphs as well as the movie's frame rate. PoserSpeak will match the speech to your scene file's frame rate. ........ ____ Issues __________________________________________________________________ The only issue to report for version 1 is a black window which appears when run in Poser 4. This black window is a DOS Command window, it shows up behind the PoserSpeak application. This does not affect the use of the tool or hinder PoserSpeak in anyway, it's just kind of an eyesore. This only happens in Poser4. It is a problem with how Poser and Python interact with each other. This DOS window is not visible in Poser 5 or Poser 6. As a plug-in it is important to have a clean, properly installed copy of Poser. Your Poser installation needs to have the word "Poser" and a version number in the path. For example: the path "C:\Program Files\Curious Labs\Poser 5" has the word "Poser" and a "5" in it. This is a good install path. The path: "F:\Poser6" is also valid because it says "Poser" and the version number (6). "C:\Program Files\MetaCreations\Poser 4" is also a good, valid path. Failure to do this, may cause strange behavior in PoserSpeak. Also, please avoid improper version numbers in your path. Do not, for example, install Poser 6 in a Poser 5 folder. This too, can cause some problems with the operation of PoserSpeak. More info about this 3d Poser model can be found at the following url: http://www.3dtrue.com/poser/36.html
