Got them Poser unpacking blues? Poser libraries are great till you find yourself spending all day installing content, or exporting it. Basically, this program is a drag-and-drop utility for making and unpacking Poser friendly zip archives. Archived content is automatically installed into Poser. Supports up to three separate Poser installs so you can mirror your installations. This tool is fresh out of the beta oven. It's still hot so be careful. Lot's more to do still but this is a working version if you find yourself on a midnight download rampage.
Installation is as follows: Download the zip archive link below. Unpack the archive on your desktop. The archive will unpack a folder called PoserPorter. Inside the PoserPorter folder is an executable program. Double click this program file to install PoserPorter on your computer. After you install the program, you can find it under your Start Menu inside Program Files. A shortcut will also be saved to your desktop. This program is written and compiled for any Windows Operating System.
Exporting Content Exporting Content with PoserPorter is this easy. Open PoserPorter, choose Export 3D, Browse for a folder, hit Export button. By browsing for a folder inside of your Poser library, the program will package every item inside that library folder. For example, if you have a prop folder called Curtains with 6 prop files inside, the program will gather all 6 pp2 props in the curtains folder. Gathering entails reading the file and collecting any and all textures, thumbnails, and obj files needed by Poser. Gathering builds a directory tree structure required to export your content to others. Additionally, a ReadMe file is generated as well as a License file. Both the ReadMe and License can be customized in a template. Additionally, the ReadMe file will have a dynamic File List written automatically with a listing of all files in your archive. This gathering takes place inside your PoserPorter release folder. This release folder is probably located at C:/Program Files/3dtrue/PoserPorter
release but if you installed into a different location check there instead. After you gather, all that is left is for you to zip the folder you gathered inside of release and send the archive on its merry little way.
Importing Content Importing goes like this. Open PoserPorter, click the Import3D Tab. Drag zip archives onto the Import 3D window. Importing involves the following: Any directory structure found inside the zip with a runtime folder will be installed into your Poser location. If files exist containing the same name as the newly imported content, your old content will be overridden. You can have up to 3 Poser installations specified for import. Each Poser install will be fully imported. To specify your Poser install location, choose the Preferences tab. Specify up to 3 Poser installs and hit the Save Prefs button.
