How do i animate a movie with PoserSpeak in Poser?
Most artists use Poser for still-frame picture rendering. Many PoserSpeak buyers hope to jump into animation and are confused about animating in Poser. If you are having trouble animating with Poser, try following this tutorial to make sure a step hasn't been forgotten.
Here we go, making a talking head in Poser 6. Note, PoserSpeak works with Poser ProPack, Poser 5, and Poser 6.
This is a step-by-step process with some steps which may be ignored once you are familiar with Poser.
- Install PoserSpeak
- Launch Poser 6
- Clear the stage so you have no figures or objects anywhere on the stage. Leave your lights though so we can see.
- Open the timeline window at the bottom and set the total frames to 1 in the speedometer box in the middle.
- For speed, open the Poser library and load the figure found at "Additional Figures" > "Head Woman"
- Change to the Face Camera so you can zoom in on the face easy
- Select the head with your mouse
- In the Poser File menu, choose Window > Python Scripts to open the Python Window
- Click the PoserSpeak button, the Python menu will change
- Make sure the head is still selected.
- Click the top button labeled "PoserSpeak_run"
- The PoserSpeak window will open and you will see the record window
- Type some text like "Hello World" into the Speech box
- Be sure the "Strength" slider is set to "1"
- Be sure all of the checkboxes are checked in the Animating Prefs section.
- Click the "save" button to record your speech. (If you do not see a save button, PoserSpeak is not installed properly!)
- PoserSpeak will speak the text you gave it, then a progress bar will appear. When the progress bar reaches the end, PoserSpeak will close.
- Poser will pause for a few seconds while the stage is updated with your new animation.
- Poser will now have more frames in the Timeline speedometer at the bottom.
- In the Poser file menu up top make sure the following are selected.
Display > Tracking > "Full Tracking"
Display > Document Style > "Texture Shaded"
- In the timeline window at the bottom, check the "Skip Frames" option in the bottom right of the window.
- Press the play button in the timeline window at the bottom to see your animation preview.
- Poser will skip several frames to keep up with the sound. To see the actual animation in real-time you will need to render a movie.
- In the Poser 6 file menu up top choose "Animation > Make Movie"
- Set the format to "AVI"
- Set the Renderer to "Preview"
All of these settings you will need to play with to get the movie output you want.
I choose "Preview" in the renderer because it is very fast. Once i am happy with
my movie settings, i turn the Renderer to a higher setting like "FireFly" for the
best results. The higher the setting the longer the movie takes to make.
- Choose "Make Movie" at the bottom. Poser will ask you to chooser a compression option. I recommend the default option Poser gives you. I have the DivX codec and prefer that but that's a whole other topic.
